Founder & Director: A Vision for Better Advocacy
Better Living Advocacy was born from a lifelong journey that began on the tools and evolved into two decades of high-level project management. Our leadership has seen firsthand what happens when building companies are managed without the right care or expertise. We founded this team because we refused to cross the lines others might; for us, integrity and the quality of the outcome always come first.
The building industry is the only world our Founder & Director has ever known. Starting as an apprentice carpenter at 15 and eventually running a business with a team of qualified tradesmen and apprentices before moving into site and project management, they have spent over 20 years navigating every level of the industry. We’ve seen it all—the good, the bad, and the "ugly"—and we know that in this industry, the "ugly" can be truly devastating for a client.
We have seen firsthand what happens when people who are great tradesmen but poor businessmen start building companies. Managing someone’s dream is a massive responsibility, and when it’s handled without the right care or expertise, it leads to the kind of stories we could write a book about. Our Founder has even walked away from builders in the past because they refused to cross the lines they were asked to cross. Integrity and the quality of the outcome have always come first for our team.
Better Living Advocacy was born from that lifelong experience and a growing passion to simply do the right thing. We have spent two decades building a network of trusted, experienced consultants who share our values. We aren't here to just "manage a site"—we are here to be the advocate we know this industry needs. We use our history to protect your future, ensuring that your journey from plan to completion is handled with the honesty, clarity, and expertise you deserve.
Experience That Matters
At Better Living Advocacy, we don't just hire people with impressive qualifications on paper—we build our team around real-world experience and the situations they've navigated. I hold a Cert IV in Building & Construction, I've been a Registered Builder for over 15 years, and I'm currently completing my MBA with a focus on Project Management. But what truly defines our approach is the 20+ years I've spent on-site, the 8+ years leading complex builds, and the 3+ years in senior management where I've seen projects succeed and fail for reasons that no textbook ever covers.
We do our best to back up our expertise with academic qualifications, but our real strength is in lived experience—the kind that only comes from being on the tools at 15, walking off jobs that crossed ethical lines, and learning how to protect clients in an industry that doesn't always put them first. Every member of our Specialist Consultant Panel is chosen for the same reason: they've been in the trenches, they've solved real problems under pressure, and they bring the kind of insight you can't learn in a classroom.
A Personal Note on Our Commitment
Finally, I want to be clear: our mission is to help people. I know that every project and every budget is different. If you feel you need an advocate but you’re worried about the cost, please reach out anyway. Even if the standard pricing isn't quite right for your situation, I’d still like to discuss how we might be able to support you. We truly stand by our commitment to helping people navigate this industry safely, and we’ll always do our best to find a way to help you get the outcome you deserve.
The Team Behind Better Living Advocacy
Because no one person can know everything — and that’s exactly why we succeed.
After more than twenty years in the industry, there’s one truth I’ve learned over and over again: no single person can know everything about building. And ironically, this is exactly where so many builders fail. A builder with 30 years of experience still needs to keep learning, updating, adapting — but in this industry, that’s nearly impossible to do alone.
I’m only one piece of the puzzle here at Better Living Advocacy. I know what I know — and I’m confident in the experience I bring — but I also know where my limits are. That’s why we have a dedicated Consultant Panel behind every project. These aren’t just names on a list. They’re people I trust, people I’ve worked with, people who have been in real situations that push you to grow.
And here’s something I’m genuinely proud to say: even as a team, we don’t claim to know everything.
But what makes us different is this — every one of us is the type of person who either:
already knows the right rep, engineer, access specialist, or consultant to call, or
will be up late doing the research, digging through standards, and finding the exact answer you need.
That’s the culture of Better Living Advocacy.
Not ego.
Not guesswork.
Just honest people with real experience, working together to get things right.
Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing each member of our Consultant Panel here on the website — their backgrounds, their specialties, and the value they bring to your project. Stay tuned; they’re an incredible group.
